Two ways to count the same dates
From Monday to Friday is four days, yet a course that runs from Monday to Friday fills five dates. Both answers are right; they answer different questions. By default this calculator measures the distance between two dates and leaves the start date out: 1 January to 2 January is one day, and a date compared with itself is zero. Tick “Include both start and end dates” when the first day counts too, as it does for a holiday from the 1st to the 7th (seven days, not six), a rental period or an event that takes place on both dates.
What the result tells you
Below the total you see the same span in weeks and days, a split into weekdays and weekend days, and the calendar difference in years, months and days. A leap day is counted whenever it falls inside the range: 28 February to 1 March is two days in 2024 and one day in 2025. From 1 March to 31 March is 30 days, or 31 when both dates are included.
Adding and subtracting days
Switch to “Add or subtract” to move a date by up to 100,000 days; a negative number goes back in time. With the weekday option, Saturdays and Sundays are skipped and the start date itself is not counted: one weekday after a Friday is the following Monday, and ten weekdays after Monday 5 January 2026 is Monday 19 January. Public holidays are not skipped, because they differ by country, region and employer. Count them separately when a contract or a deadline depends on working days.
Dates, not 24-hour blocks
The calculator works with calendar dates, so the night the clocks change neither adds nor removes a day; a 23-hour day is still one date. It applies the Gregorian calendar to every year from 1 to 9999, including years before a country adopted it, so very old dates may not match historical documents.

How do I find the number of days until a date?
Keep today as the start date and enter your target as the end date. The result counts the days still to go, without today.
Does the calculator count business days?
It counts weekdays, Monday to Friday. It cannot know which public holidays or company closures apply to you, so subtract those yourself.
What date is 90 days from today?
Choose “Add or subtract”, keep today as the start date and enter 90. Enter −90 to find the date 90 days ago.
Why does another calculator give one day more?
It probably includes both the start and the end date. Tick the inclusive option here to get the same figure.
